OK, so I'm really tired and should be in bed, but I'm not going to bed until I'm at least halfway done with my DSJ article and I'm not just there yet. My article last year was so good that I really, really wish I could just ask John to run it again, but alas. Thank goodness I ran into him today and remembered that I had the article due tomorrow (er, today?... Wednesday either way). He didn't have to say anything; just seeing him reminded me. It was like the one flipping thing I didn't write down that I have had to do in the past 3 weeks. Figures. But anyways, that will get done, as my things tend to do, even though after 5 straight hour of class today I am ready to just be done. The good note? No more classes this week! Yep, one 2.5 hour class on Monday and two 2.5 hour classes on Tuesday and my academic week is oooover. Thank goodness for dinner with Arrion, Betsy, and Emily last night or I wouldn't have switched into this one class and I'd have a class tomorrow! Ack - I like this way much better... even with the marathon of learning today.
In class today I pretty much alienated the smartest guy there (undergrad at Princeton, a masters from Columbia, and then another one from somewhere else) in a way that I won't go into, haha, but thankfully Tiffanie tried to reconcile us by pretty much creeping him out we're thinking, but at least landing us in the same presentation group with him. Now it's those kinds of run-on sentences that I am currently trying to avoid in my DSJ article. John has always said that he loves me writing for him because he never has to edit... but I am REALLY out of practice with the writing gig right now so I am worried that I will disappoint. I really like writing for the DSJ (even though my Dad isn't such a fan), so I don't want to jeopardize him continuing to ask me to write. I'm just excited that he's letting me continue while in grad school!
I have the same teacher for 2/3 of my classes, and he's actually someone I saw a lot this summer coming and going from the Rec, which he kept mentioning today while I was sitting next to him in class. We had to rearrange in groups at the beginning of the class, just for the record, so I was not originally planted near the teacher like a brown-noser. He didn't let us out early today like he did yesterday though which was distressing to me because I was really hoping for that both so I could grab some sustenance but also because I forgot to set up the DVR to record my two shows for tonight before my office hours. I texted my roommate, Stephanie, and luckily she got home before 8 pm and sent me an affirmative that she figured out how to work it for me and got it all set up. It's so funny to think that this girl that I met back freshman year, who was really good friends with one of my exes' exes, who I thought didn't like me for a period of time because of Lauren, is now living with me as we go through grad school. Life is crazy. That is really the moral of the story. And on that note I am going to type some more into my article and go to bed. Staff meeting in the morning! And even before that I need to have this article turned in and the names of the students who need to be dropped from the TCC courses I grade for submitted. Keeping busy is what I do. :)
